I'm Amber Sliter, currently creating in Denver, CO. My work often plays with the balance between the natural and synthetic world. Oil painting and installation pieces have my heart. Recently I have been enjoying watercolor painting as it fits into my busy schedule as I work full-time in the Marketing and Creative Services realm. "Mind Mosaics" is the title of my current abstract watercolor series. You will find a cellular trace in my paintings as my previous research based installation work was heavily fixated on cells in the human body with a focus on cancer and the environment.
I have worn many hats as a professional and creative. Once a Creative Director for three breweries. I have 13 years of professional photography experience. Ranging from working in the Fashion Industry as a product photographer for New Era Cap headquarters, social media content creation for local businesses, wedding photographer, to managing a baby photography studio.
This space explores more of my fine art practices. I have my B.F.A in Painting and a minor in Art History from the University at Buffalo. I spent 10 years living in Buffalo, NY, so you might just find my pieces popping up in those neighborhoods as well!
I identify as a pansexual woman, I feel it is important to bring visibility to my queerness in this space.
I would love to learn a bit about you as well, connect below to share what the heck brought you here.
Current Body of Work Artist Statement: My “Mind Mosaics” are created with a harmonious and intuitive beginning, allowing each form to inform the next shape while finishing the painting with a meticulous weaving of pebble-like shapes. My abstract paintings often are inspired by nature, memory, emotion, artifacts, pondering, and various scales and colors found both in the organic and synthetic world.
Selecting watercolor as my medium, I need to be in a peaceful mind space to allow a meditative yet permanent flow to stain the paper. My goal is to create a composition that soothes the brain as it flows with your eye across the surface. Each painting sparks a feeling of peace, movement, or playful energy. I invite you to breathe in my color palette, allow your eye to roam with curiosity, and breathe out what you are ready to release.
