This installation was a collaboration between Amber Sliter and Harumo Sato. We created a space where everyone was welcome to tell their stories, doodle, and dream up new ambitions. Amber Sliter created the tree made of chicken wire with bed sheet strips weaved through the geomantic wire. Harumo sato’s tree was made of yarn with balloons and bed sheet strips tangled and weaved throughout the space. The two trees merged at the base and danced through the room together.
Our relationship with our families and childhood memories inspired this installation. During the opening reception musician Lesionread hid speakers and microphones throughout the installation to invite further interaction. The space continuously changed with the audience. Guests were invited to add their loved ones to the trees with each bed sheet strip representing a person. A colorbook border surronded the room inviting guest to draw or write about themselves such as "draw your bed".
